Dissemination Workshop

Workshop in Kyiv, Ukraine

One of our participants had the opportunity to conduct two workshops: one offline and one online. The offline workshop took place at the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” and engaged around 11 participants. The online workshop brought together 4 participants and, despite being held remotely, remained highly interactive, with active discussions and practical activities. The main objective of both workshops was to explain how propaganda and disinformation operate, why they pose a threat to democratic societies, and which tools can be used to counter information manipulation. During the sessions, the participant shared knowledge about key disinformation techniques, presented real-life examples such as propaganda posters, manipulative headlines, and distorted news on social media, and explained how emotional triggers influence people to unknowingly spread false information. In addition, practical guidance was provided on how to identify fake content, verify sources, and critically evaluate information in today’s media environment. Together with the participants, everyday encounters with misinformation were discussed, including those in social media, news outlets, and personal conversations. The workshops created a safe space for open dialogue, experience sharing, and critical reflection. Participants analyzed common manipulative messages, practiced asking clarifying questions, and worked on assessing the reliability and credibility of information sources.
